What We Do
The Technology Department is tasked to create and maintain NMSD computer systems and networks. Additionally, we work to improve existing technology, increase collaboration, and provide various network services. We handle any IT support request that you need resolved– and we look forward to serving you! Please let us know how we can best meet your needs as we strive to provide excellent IT support.
Technology Support
Provides Support for hardware, installations, phones and network infrastructure. This service also includes building techs, network management, along with technology purchasing and inventory.
Technology Services is here to support teaching and learning.
We are in the business of making technology work to enhance student learning through thoughtful integration, effective staff development and timely support. The department is made up of different services that work together to make technology serve the end user.
Instructional Technology
Provides support for the use of technology in the classroom to enhance teaching and student learning. Includes help with software issues and integration, online resources, multimedia equipment and use, staff development, lesson support, help with grade books, and the list goes on and on.
Career and Technical Education
Supports the Career and Technical program for grades 8-12 which is a planned program of courses and learning experiences that begins with exploration of career options, supports basic academic and life skills, enables achievement of high academic standards, leadership, preparation for industry-defined work, and advanced/continuing education.
Library Services
Our libraries are not only the center for traditional print resources but are increasingly becoming active multimedia centers. The librarians support both students and staff in finding valuable resources, conducting current research as well as using available technology to support their learning while increasing their productivity.
Student Information Services
Student Information Services maintains the network, email accounts and student databases. We provide training and support for the use of the district student information software (Skyward) including the electronic gradebook, Family Access and the software which provides parent access to those databases.
Digital Citizenship
Student need to prepare for school and beyond. Resources for students to become aware of the dangers can be found here.
Content Filtering
Beyond our firewall website blocking and content filter we use a third party app called GoGuardian. To see how it works click here. To see how they align with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act click here.
Web Services
Maintains the district web environment as well as the individual school websites and supports staff with maintaining their own websites. The webmaster also works with all the administrative departments to develop and maintain their own web pages within the district web environment.
