Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC)

Dear North Mason School District Community,

We are excited to announce the formation of a special committee dedicated to assessing the needs of our district and providing recommendations to the board. This committee will focus on the bond proposition, which will address the current state of our facilities and necessary improvements required to ensure the students of North Mason receive every opportunity.

This bond is separate from the replacement levy that will be addressed during the February 11, 2025, election. The timeline for voting on the bond proposition will be in late 2025.

Purpose of the Committee: The North Mason School District is considering a potential capital construction bond measure to address facilities’ needs. NMSD is establishing a “Community Bond Advisory Committee (CBAC),” comprised of 15-20 community members, to consider options for submitting a potential capital construction bond to voters in February 2026.

Key Areas of Focus:

  1. Explore how facilities can accommodate anticipated future enrollment increases.

  2. Explore how facilities can expand current educational program offerings.

  3. Provide a modern, flexible environment for high-quality education.

Timeline: The Community Bond Advisory Committee will convene August 14, 2024.

 Research & Analysis:

The committee will:

  • Review the facilities needs identified in the District’s Building Condition Assessment and tour the facilities.

  • Consider options for financing a potential bond for capital construction, including amount of bond and length of payback period.

  • Develop a timeline and long-term plan for addressing capital improvement projects relating to facilities’ needs.

  • Review demographic data including population projections and projected economic growth and development.

  • Review adjustments of school attendance areas within the District.

  • Consider community feedback in creating the recommendation; and

  • Recommend to the School Board a potential bond package that could be submitted to voters.

Recommendation:  By late 2025, we will present our findings and propose a detailed bond plan to the school board.

Get Involved:  We invite parents, educators, students, and community members to participate in this vital process. Your input matters! Look out for upcoming town hall meetings, surveys, and opportunities to share your thoughts.

Over the years, our community has shown tremendous support. THANK YOU, again, for being so instrumental in the lives of the students and staff in our schools.
